Support Matt and his efforts at National Links Trust’s ‘The Hike at East Potomac’ on Monday, June 10th

My relationship with the game of golf started when I was around 10 years old, and it quickly captivated my heart and mind. Growing up in rural Maine, I started playing at a small 9 hole golf course where kids were not only welcome, but encouraged to play. Where my parents could drop me off at 8 am and pick me up at 8 pm without worry. Where there were free weekend clinics with free homemade lemonade to follow. Where two hour long putting contents were a daily occurance and playing 27 holes in day was considered a “light day”. I consider myself incredibly fortunate to have been introduced to golf this way. It was never pretentious, it was never exclusive, it was always approachable and I firmly believe that is how the game of golf should always be.

That is why I am participating in The Hike to raise money for the National Links Trust, because I believe NLT’s mission of providing affordable and accessible golf is paramount to the continued success of this game that we all have come to love so much. As golfers we know the positive impact this simple yet beautiful game can have on a life, and I feel it is our duty to share it with all who wish to play. That is why I am so proud to be traveling from Maine to DC to participate in The Hike to support the National Links Trust.
